Get to know Peristeen® Light

If bowel problems are a part of your life when living with MS, it may be that a low-volume transanal irrigation system is a solution for you. In this page, you can meet our low-volume TAI system: Peristeen Light.

First, what is low-volume TAI? Low-volume TAI involves using a hand-held device to introduce water into the bowel via the rectum. This instillation of water helps to promote the evacuation of stool from the rectum.

Peristeen Light – from now on there’s a choice

Peristeen Light is a low-volume TAI system that is designed to help manage faecal incontinence and/or constipation conditions.* It is designed to be easy to use, both at home and on the go.

Convenience has always been the big idea behind Peristeen Light. However, people are different, and different bowel needs call for personalised options. Peristeen Light therefore comes in two sizes, 175 ml and 250 ml.

Peristeen Light (250 ml) can also be used with an additional extension tube for extra flexibility, so you can choose what is right for you.

How do I use Peristeen Light?

Peristeen Light uses single-use catheters which are ready to use right after activating the coating with water. This means it is quick to prepare for use.

This low-volume TAI system can be assembled in just two steps. It is designed to be intuitive and easy to use.

Peristeen Light is also designed with a one-way valve, designed to prevent any backflow into the container whilst you irrigate.

This device comes in two sizes, with a 175 ml and 250 ml container that is designed to be easy- to-hold-and-squeeze.

Extension tube for extra flexibility

You may also choose to use Peristeen Light (250 ml) with an extension tube. This may provide extra flexibility and allow you to perform your irrigation in a way that is right for you. Both ends of the tube have the same connector so it can be intuitively attached between the catheter and lid of your Peristeen Light.
